Cafes and restaurants across Britain have been selling chicken secretly injected with beef and pork waste. Food manufacturers in 3 EU states are committing hi-tech fraud by making bulking agents out of porcine and bovine gristle and bones that help inflate chicken breasts, so that they fetch a higher price.

One of the questions that Allah (swt) will ask us on the Day of Judgement is what food we ate. Yet despite our efforts we still get cheated and cannot be fully sure what we’re eating.

The underlying causes of the problem are not the individuals and firms. It is the Capitalist belief system which promotes a certain way of life with its emphasis on self-benefit, profiteering, inconsideration, and unaccountability which fuels the continuing explosion of scandals everywhere.

It has been reported in Sahih Muslim on the authority of Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah (saw) passed by a heap of food. As he put his hand inside it his fingers got wet, so he said to the vendor: “What is this?” He said: “It was dampened by the rain O Messenger of Allah.” He (saw) said: “Why don't you put it on the top so that people can see it? He who cheats us is not one of us.”
